Herbst Kinsky has advised the successful Viennese start-up GoStudent in the course of its Series B round in the amount of EUR 70 million. In addition to the existing investors Left Lane Capital (US) and DN Capital (UK), the renowned New York fund Coatue also invested in the education tech start-up for the first time. Coatue has already invested in companies such as Spotify, Airtable and Snap, among others.

Founded in 2016, GoStudent is a startup that has developed a novel learning platform for teaching online tutoring. The tutoring is held live in a virtual classroom and booked in a subscription package. So far, GoStudent is active in ten European countries, with more than 250,000 tutoring hours booked per month. Five more markets shall be established this year. The team is expected to grow from around 300 employees to more than 800 in 2021.

Florian Steinhart, Partner at Herbst Kinsky: “We are of course pleased to be able to accompany GoStudent as one of the high-flyers of the Austrian start-up scene since its foundation. Especially the current rapid internationalization of the company is impressive. Also, the completion of a Series A and B round within less than 12 months is remarkable, even more so in this order of magnitude. This is definitely a sign of the great dynamics and potential in the Education-Tech market.”

Herbst Kinsky´s team was led by Florian Steinhart supported by Felix Kernbichler.
