Herbst Kinsky advises Joh. Klinglhuber & Söhne Handelsgesellschaft m.b.H. on the sale of its composite activities to the chemical group BÜFA.
The Viennese family-owned company Joh. Klinglhuber & Söhne Handelsgesellschaft m.b.H. (JKS), founded in 1837, has sold its distribution activities in the composite sector to the recently founded BÜFA Composites Austria GmbH, a subsidiary of BÜFA Composite Systems GmbH, with effect from January 1, 2023.
The business operations of JKS are focused on the provision of sales agency services and the wholesale of semi-finished products for the construction and plastics industries to industrial and medium-sized commercial customers. JKS distributes, among other things, fibre reinforcements, release agents and lubricants, resins and processing equipment as well as CORE materials for the plastics industry and has maintained a close partnership with BÜFA in this area for around 30 years.
BÜFA is a supplier of customised polyester resin specialities and complete solutions from Rastede in Germany, which has now also a branch office with its Austrian subsidiary in Vienna at JKS’s headquarters.
“We are happy to hand over the JKS sales activities of the composites division to BÜFA Composites Austria in trustful hands. A life’s work that has existed for six generations is being continued,” reports Mag. Thomas Mayer, successor to company founder Johann Klinglhuber.
“The merger with JKS is the right complement to strengthen our existing market activities and, with the existing JKS products together with the speciality and distribution portfolio of BÜFA Composite Systems, to be the competent, comprehensive provider of complete solutions for composite customers in Austria,” adds Lothar Kempf, Managing Director of BÜFA Composite Systems.
The Herbst Kinsky team was led by Dr. Valerie Mayer, supported by Dr. Alexander Lotz (both Corporate / M&A).
