Herbst Kinsky advised private equity investor FLEX Capital on the successful acquisition of SOP Hilmbauer & Mauberger GmbH.

FLEX Capital is a private equity fund founded by successful serial entrepreneurs that invests in profitable and growing German SMEs in the internet and software sectors. With a second fund of EUR 300 million and a team of 30 experts, FLEX Capital provides operational and strategic support to its portfolio companies.

SOP is one of Europe’s leading providers of software solutions for international mobility in higher education with over 20 years of experience. SOP’s solution, Mobility-Online, is currently used by more than 400 renowned universities worldwide, including ETH Zurich, University of Vienna, and CBS International Business School.

The merger with of SOP with FLEX Capital’s existing portfolio company Simovative creates a leading European platform for the digital transformation of universities. The transaction paves the way for joint growth in Europe and secures a forward-looking succession solution for SOP.
